Known as the toughest downhill mountain bike race on the planet, Red Bull Hardline combines the massive jumps of freeride with the technical precision of World Cup racing.
Originally created by Dan Atherton in the Dyfi Valley of Wales, the event was designed to push riders beyond the established limits of the sport.
Tasmania made history as the first location outside the UK to host the competition, leveraging the extreme topography of Maydena Bike Park. Now entering its third year in the Derwent Valley, the event has cemented the island’s status on the global mountain biking map, drawing thousands of spectators to witness feats of gravity-defying skill.

REIGNING CHAMPIONS TO RETURN FOR RED BULL HARDLINE TASMANIA 2026
The reigning champions of Red Bull Hardline are confirmed to return down under for Red Bull Hardline Tasmania 2026, including Jackson Goldstone and Gracey Hemstreet, who are set to defend their Tassy titles at Maydena Bike Park from 7 February to 8 February 2026.
Riding alongside them at the world’s most daring downhill competition are the rest of Red Bull Hardline’s 2025 podium winners, including Asa Vermette, Troy Brosnan, Charlie Hatton, Rónán Dunne and Lou Ferguson.
With further riders to be announced, the full line-up will see the world’s best male and female mountain bikers tackle the gruelling course at Maydena Bike Park in Tasmania in the third Australian edition of Red Bull Hardline.
Also seeing a major revamp is the 2026 Red Bull Hardline course, taking it back to its downhill racing roots with a new top section built to test the rider’s technicality at insane speeds of over 80km/hr. Plus, spectators can get up close to every inch of the action with access to the full length of the track this year.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett said: “Events like Red Bull Hardline add to Tasmania’s huge international reputation as home to one of the world’s premier mountain bike networks.”
“The best of Tasmania will be beamed to people across the globe when the top riders in the world, along with thousands of spectators, descend on Maydena Bike Park in February.
“Red Bull Hardline has secured a place on the must-do list for hundreds of competitors and we can’t wait to host them again,” Howlett continues.
