Support Vinnies CEO Sleepout to make a difference in the lives of homeless Tasmanians

The St Vincent de Paul Society is encouraging all Tasmanians to support the 2023 CEO Sleepout, which will be held overnight on June 22. Vinnies CEO Sleepout brings together CEOs, business owners, and community leaders to support homeless Tasmanians and individuals at risk of homelessness. This inspiring event, taking place on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year, provides an opportunity for us all to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Since its humble beginnings in 2006, the CEO Sleepout has grown into a powerful platform for raising awareness and vital funds for the St Vincent de Paul Society’s crucial work in combating homelessness.

St Vincent de Paul Society CEO, Ms Heather Kent, said the Society is proud to witness the unwavering commitment of CEOs and community leaders who willingly step out of their comfort zone to experience just a fraction of the challenges faced by those without a home.

“Vinnies’ previous CEO Sleepouts have achieved remarkable success, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to help the homeless. The goal of the 2023 CEO Sleepout is to raise around $160,000. With this level of support, the Society will be able to provide essential services and support to homeless Tasmanians across the state. By joining forces and rallying together, we can create lasting change in the lives of those most in need,” Ms Kent said.

“The significance of community involvement cannot be underestimated. Every time an individual, business, organisation, or school contribute to this worthy cause, they are raising more than money. They are raising awareness of an issue that affects too many Tasmanians. Every dollar donated will directly impact the lives of the homeless and those at risk of homelessness, providing them with the essential services and support they desperately need. Together, we can break the cycle of homelessness and offer a brighter future to those in crisis.

“The impact of every donation extends beyond the immediate support it provides. It offers hope, restores dignity, and empowers individuals to rebuild their lives. By supporting the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, we all become an integral part of the solution to homelessness in our community.

“We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of the 50+ CEOs and community leaders who have stepped forward to participate in this year’s Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Their commitment to making a positive impact in our community is truly commendable. By spending a night under the stars, they are not only raising funds but also shining a light on the issue of homelessness in Tasmania. Their compassion and willingness to make a difference inspire us all and remind us that together, we can create lasting change,” Ms Kent said.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout will take place at two iconic venues: Blundstone Arena in Hobart and UTAS Stadium in Launceston. As the sun sets on the coldest and longest night of winter, CEOs, business owners, and community leaders will gather, united in their determination to support vulnerable Tasmanians. The choice of these cavernous open-air venues symbolises the urgency of the issue, while those who are participating bring warmth, compassion, and the hope to those in need.

Vinnies is encouraging everyone to rally behind the 2023 CEO Sleepout. To transform lives, one person at a time. Whether you are an individual, a business, or a community organisation, your support is crucial in creating lasting change for vulnerable Tasmanians.
