5th Anniversary

Homebrew Studio, formerly Comedy Audio Theatre launch a new audio podcast comedy pilot That Putin Show the day to day, zany dramas of a psychotic, populist dictator, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this project. The episode will launch on Saturday July 1st.

This not for profit, non-funded project has five comedy podcast serials, many comedy sketches and four non budget films. Besides the launch of the new series, we will also post on YouTube sample episodes from all the serials.

Over the five years, over 30 crew members have been involved on some/all of the audio and film productions. The next plan is to make two more Putin episodes, one more mockumentary and to run some open and informal readings of classic radio play scripts from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. New players are invited to join the reading groups.

The main basis of the humour behind the scripts is satirical and left of centre themes but writer Matt Dean hopes that this new series will help shake people out of their ignorance and indifference to things in the world, going on that are really terrible and often enabled by an increasingly lazy mainstream media.

We also celebrate with a comedy song FFFK OFF (I had a reply) which is a reflection of recent events in the Senate, including Pauline speaking the words F___ O__ . The tune plays her words back to her … watch the video further down the page.

And is also going viral on twitter as we speak. https://twitter.com/SarkySage/status/1669666059572641792

There are plans for more episodes, some sketches and a film later in the year. Matt Dean wants to spend some of winter recording a stockpile of songs waiting to be produced. And also, have a week doing not much, if that is possible.

The current cast for That Putin Show is Alison Butterworth, Nina Bradley, Bridget Wolf, Nikki Jones, Reece Bradley, Bid Bidstrup and Matt Dean.

This project has been through much. Mostly good times but also some difficulties. Covid made it very difficult for obvious reasons. The productions rely on the talent of those involved, their hard work and the gift of their time. This is essential for a project without funding and limited resources.

We have had the input of many great people who have moved away to other places and a lovely core of crew currently onboard. We have maintained an even gender balance and have featured cast member from the age of 11 up to all age groups.
