On AFL Team and Stadium …

Wishy washy White must stop being deceptive and admit she will kill AFL side

Rebecca White must stop being deceptive and weak and admit she will kill our AFL side, once and for all.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said:

“Yesterday, Ms White said very clearly that if she was Premier, she will cancel the stadium, which will kill the AFL side.

“Now today on radio, she’s trying to backtrack and again walk both sides of the street – still claiming the team can be delivered without a stadium.

“You cannot have a Tasmanian AFL team without a new stadium – it’s as simple as that.

“Let me say again – you cannot have a Tasmanian AFL team without a new stadium.

“The team must be viable, so it’s either build a stadium with all the flow-on benefits from it including a Tasmanian AFL side, or kill the stadium and kill the team.

“The Premier has said this. The AFL have said this. And everyone knows it, including Ms White.

“For her to claim otherwise is either delusional or deceptive.

“Ms White needs to stop being deceptive, and just admit she will kill our AFL dream, once and for all.”

Unanswered questions remain over Rockliff’s stadium mess

The Liberal minority government has the wrong priorities and a stadium mess.

This whole stadium debacle is all of Jeremy Rockliff’s making.

He has signed Tasmania up to a secret deal with Australia’s richest sport and appears to have caved in to all their demands.

Jeremy Rockliff has failed to stand up for Tasmania and still can’t answer questions about how much his stadium will cost, who will fund the overruns, and whether he got an exemption from our GST allocation for the $240 million in Federal Government funding.

He won’t even answer questions about when he asked for the GST exemption.

Two members of the Liberal party have quit because they don’t have confidence Jeremy Rockliff has the right priorities.

Tasmania’s health system is being held together by sticky tape, waitlists for social housing are longer than ever and cost-of-living pressures are impacting families across the state.

Premier Rockliff has the wrong priorities, he’s had no support for the stadium decision, he’s stopped listening to Tasmanians, he’s stopped listening to his party room and he’s now leading a minority government. How is he still leader?
