W.P. Holman Clinic Deserves Federal Government Support
Following the recent donation of $500,000 from Launceston’s Mark Barbeliuk to the W.P. Holman Clinic towards a program to support cancer survivors post-treatment, Federal Member for Bass Bridget Archer has called on the Federal Government to match her recent election commitment supporting the critical program.
“Over the past few years, I have met with dedicated and passionate clinicians from the Holman clinic in Launceston who have developed a program to support cancer survivors post-treatment,” Mrs Archer said.
“An estimated 2,000 patients come through the doors of the Holman clinic each year and while research and development in treating cancer has come a long way and more cancer patients are surviving, there is a need to invest in programs that support cancer patients after treatments are finished.
“During the 2022 election, I secured a commitment of $580,000 for the program and in light of this recent generous donation, I call on the Federal Government to match my commitment which would lead to improved physical, emotional, mental and financial wellbeing for northern Tasmanians cancer survivors.
“While we wait for the specifics of what the Federal Government’s urgent care clinic plan means for northern Tasmanians, I urge them to match my commitment to ensure better health outcomes for our community.”
