AMC to be key strategic partner in Naval Shipbuilding College
I welcome today’s announcement that the University of Tasmania’s Australian Maritime College (AMC) will be a key strategic partner in the new Naval Shipbuilding College.
Based in Launceston, the AMC has a national and international reputation for cutting edge maritime research, education and training.
Today’s announcement recognises the significant amount of maritime and defence expertise that exists in Tasmania and the significant contribution our State can make to the Australian Government’s multi-billion dollar shipbuilding program.
Importantly, the Naval Shipbuilding College will build on AMC’s already proven capability and capacity to support naval shipbuilding and complement the existing range of specialist degree offerings already available at AMC.
This is a new and exciting opportunity for the University of Tasmania and AMC and will mean that our State continues to play a lead role in shaping Australia’s maritime and defence capability.
