Shannons Take Your Tops Off for Breast Cancer Research 2018

About the NBCF
The NBCF is the only national body that funds life-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. Breast cancer is the most common life-threatening cancer facing Australian women, with eight women dying from the disease each day — mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends, and 1 % of males also being diagnosed each year. The NBCF’s aspirational goal is to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. With 44 Australians diagnosed each day and seven dying from the disease, there is still much to do.

Research is the only way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. By funding world-class research, NBCF is leading the way in research projects.

Since 1994, NBCF has awarded more than $140 million to 470 Australian-based research projects to improve the health and well-being of those affected by breast cancer, funding research right across the spectrum – from understanding the fundamental basis of the disease to psychosocial research aimed at improving the quality of life for survivors.

Shannons Take Your Tops Off For Breast Cancer Research 2018 (TYTO)
Where: Parliament House Lawns Hobart
When: 17 March from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm
FREE Community Event

The popular static car show at the Parliament House Lawns in Hobart will again be held on Saturday 17 March 2018. This event has been a major success, both as a popular free community event for the public to engage at, and also as part of the calendar of events in Hobart assisting raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event features the popular Lord Mayor’s trophy, the TasPlates People’s Choice prize, and the Shannons’ most prized car award. This static car display, now celebrating the seventh year since inception, is open to entries from all class of cars, from vintage through to modern, and is free to participate in, and free to attend.

The event started in Hobart as the brain child of Rodney Belbin of Shannons and Judi Adams, Hobart Volunteer Committee for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and has become one that Shannons now supports nationally and now hosts across other states throughout Australia. In total this initiative has raised over $16400 locally and $32400 nationally for the National Breast Cancer Foundation since the inaugural event in Hobart in October 2012.

This annual event proudly supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It is free to enter the car display and free to attend this community event and the event attracts much through traffic and many tourists as it is held alongside Salamanca market. Entrants can register their vehicle through contacting Rod Belbin on rodney_belbin@shannons.com.au or phoning Shannons on 0408 314 309.
