SFFP Calls for Decentralisation
We are calling on Tasmanians to get behind the concept of decentralization because rural areas outside the big cities deserve jobs and an improved standard of living.
Shooters, Fishers & Farmers Party believe that we should move more government agencies to rural towns and communities.
Places like Burnie, Devonport and the Derwent Valley are great locations for relocating government agencies and upgrading the rail system which will also assist in minimizing traffic congestion within the cities of Hobart and Launceston.
It’s time for rural communities to receive a much needed and deserved injection of government infrastructure investment.
The public should be calling on all political parties to engage in the conversation about decentralization in an effort to improve the standard of living for rural communities.
Relocating government agencies out of major cities will also assist in housing affordability and also ensure Government agencies are in contact with their local communities.
For too long we are seeing more and more services removed from our communities, centralized or sold off to private companies.
SFFP does not support the constant push of outsourcing by contact essential government services, especially Health and Community services
SFFP believes decentralization would assist in developing job opportunities across the State. Government service jobs are a big driver of downstream jobs, particularly when placed in regional and rural towns.
Rural Tasmania deserves the benefits of public sector employment just as much as any large city. Launceston and Hobart should not have the monopoly.
After all, rural Tasmania supplies the water, food and electricity which is the driver of our major cities.
We believe the next government should consider shifting government departments out of city CBD’s to provide people with the choice of living and working in rural community areas.
Decentralization will deliver many benefits to all Tasmanians
