Questions raised over paid actor call

Posted on

The Love Your Local campaign has accused the anti-gaming lobby of hypocrisy over its call for paid actors to participate in anti-gaming commercials.
“After spending the last weeks attacking the Love Your Local campaign, it is ironic that the anti-pokies lobby has now been forced to pay actors for their campaign,” Love Your Local Chairman, Michael Best said.
“This move leaves more questions than it answers, when it comes to funding of the anti-gaming movement.
“Who is funding these ads, where is the money coming from and why won’t those involved reveal their sources? Mr Best asked.
Mr Best said it was interesting that a predominantly publicly funded organisation has confirmed it is behind the payment of actors in the advertisements, but it won’t reveal where its funding is coming from.
“This is very concerning, given the auspices of the organisation and its charter as a not-for-profit organisation and a-political organisation,” Mr Best said.
Mr Best called on for the organisation to come clean and reveal who was behind their campaign.
