CTST Need Transport? We Can Help
CTST – Community Transport Services Tasmania launched its South East office in Sorell today with a special celebration for volunteers and service providers.
CTST provides door to door transport services for Tasmanians over 65 who are deemed isolated or at risk of being isolated and for people with a disability who and unable to access transport. Clients are driven door to door by a volunteer driver and pay a nominal fee for transport.
The new office located at the Sorell Council is designed to support the increased demand for services. The organisation operates eight vehicles in the region with access to additional vehicles if and when required.
CTST CEO Lyndon Stevenson said, ‘We recognise the growing need for support throughout the South East region, and we are committed to doing what we can to meet that need.’ CTST has also begun to offer social outings designed to take clients on regular day trips to a variety of activities including the movies, fairs or luncheons.
About the new social outings, Mr Stevenson said, ‘Our goal is to keep Tasmanian’s in their homes for as long as possible and an important part of doing this is by providing opportunities for social inclusion.’
The Sorell office will service clients throughout the South East and will service clients from Tasman to Triabunna and across to Oatlands.
CTST has 80 vehicles state-wide and relies on the support of around 350 volunteers. Vehicles are replaced every 5-7 years, serviced regularly and the CTST team of volunteer drivers must hold a Working with Vulnerable People card, are subject to a Police check, and undertake a thorough induction process.
Mr Stevenson is very grateful for the work of CTST volunteers and said, ‘We are so thankful for the work of our volunteers. Without them, there would be no CTST, we simply would be unable to deliver our service.’

The app and iPad streamlines the system so that drivers can focus more on driving and less on paperwork allowing them to better manage their cars so that they can transfer more clients to more locations more effectively.
