Candidates to be quizzed on LGBTI issues
CANDIDATES TO BE QUIZZED ON LGBTI ISSUES
The Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group will hold a candidate forum tomorrow evening at which candidates from all three parties will be quizzed on issues important to the LGBTI community.
The forum will be at 6pm, Wednesday February 28th at the Republic Bar, North Hobart. Candidates attending our listed below.
Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group spokesperson, Rodney Croome, said,
“Despite the achievement of marriage equality, there are still inequities facing LGBTI people, including the legal disadvantages facing transgender Tasmanians and discrimination experienced by LGBTI students in Tasmanian schools.”
“Our candidate forum is about ensuring LGBTI Tasmanians are fully informed of the parties’ positions. It is also about educating candidates about the inequities we still face.”
The TGLRG conducted a survey in the LGBTI community about election priorities.
