Refugee advocate brings Manus to Brisbane

Just returned from her third trip to Manus, long-term refugee advocate Anne Moon is in Brisbane to give an eyewitness account of the conditions under which detained asylum seekers have been living for the past 4 -5 years and share some of their powerful stories.

Life on Manus will include photographs of the men from some of her two earlier trips to Manus as well as individual stories of some of the men she has become close to: where they came from, why they fled, how they have coped.

Hosted by the local community, she will be will be speaking at three events in the region, including in Dickson, the seat of Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Peter Dutton. Details are below.

Ms. Moon offers her account of Manus drawing a wealth of experience gained from decades as a volunteer and working with people experiencing trauma. Her extensive network and engagement with refugees on Manus and her repeated visits to the island makes the opportunity to hear her uniquely important way to make sense of the fragmented and incomplete picture offered by the media.

All events are fundraisers for emergency legal fund to support Manus men, which can be contributed to here: :https://www.chuffed.org/project/manus-legal-fund
