Labor has warmly welcomed BioMar’s aqua feed mill development at Wesley Vale.

Shadow Minister for Primary Industries Shane Broad said it’s great news for the North West.

“Labor congratulates BioMar on its plans to build a $56 million aqua feed mill,” Dr Broad said.

“This is a big project and one that will stimulate significant economic opportunities for the North West.

“To make fish feed here instead of having to import a large amount in from overseas is a terrific step forward for Tasmania’s salmon industry.

“The research and development component of BioMar’s announcement is also welcome.

“We need to be smart about future manufacturing opportunities for Tasmania as the economy changes.”
