The East Pointers announce national album and tour …

Posted on

JUNO-Award winning Canadian trio The East Pointers have unveiled a host of local bands as guests on their fast-approaching Australian tour.

Fiddler/singer Tim Chaisson, banjoist Koady Chaisson and guitarist Jake Charron released their second album What We Leave Behind in September, which was described as a “beautifully crafted piece of work, filled with instrumental intrigue and narrative complexity” by The Music.

11-piece collective The Northern Folk will bring their unique brand of folk/pop/stomp/rock to The East Pointers Melbourne shows at the Caravan Music Club on 30 Nov and The Toff in Town on 3 Dec. Singer-songwriting duo Emma Angelsey & Tash Parker are also special guests at The Toff in Town, as well The Sepulchre in Hobart on 6 Dec and The Metropole Guesthouse in Katoomba on 9 Dec.

Perennial folk-pop favourites The Little Stevies will open at the Theatre Royal in Castlemaine on 8 Dec, whilst big brass band outfit the Hot Potato Band will kick off The East Pointers’ Factory Theatre show in Sydney on 6 Jan, alongside folk-grunge pair Little Georgia.

About the special guests, Koady says: “We played with Emma Angelsey in Tasmania earlier this year, and we’re looking forward the chance to see she and Tash live so many times on this tour. We saw Ash from Little Georgia play in Canada once actually, and her voice is amazing. We haven’t seen Little Georgia or The Northern Folk live but we’ve heard the buzz about them and we’ll be seeing them at Woodford, too. The Little Stevies are excellent, we’ve seen them a bunch of times at different festivals in Australia and Beth and Byll are hilarious, and so talented, and Hot Potato Band are old friends – we’ve known them as long as we’ve been coming to Australia. Playing shows with friends and artists you admire is the best and having artists from the country you’re touring in as guests at a show really is an honour and a great chance to get to know more about the local scene.”
