Unwelcome blow to full-time jobs
Full-time employment goes backwards as trend to part-time work continues
Historical data shows big drop in full-time jobs
Liberals sitting back instead of addressing the issue
Full-time employment must be the focus of the Liberal Government after the latest ABS statistics revealed we’ve again slipped backwards.
Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said while it was pleasing to see the unemployment rate under six per cent, full-time jobs are again a concern.
“The latest figures show we have lost 400 full-time jobs in the last month,” Mr Bacon said.
“After steady improvements in full-time employment over the last year, this is an unwelcome setback.
“We are 1500 jobs worse off than this time two years ago.
“The unemployment rate and total employment figures are being propped up by part-time work. Too many Tasmanians remain either unemployed or under-employed.
“Labor is determined to help Tasmanians find full-time, meaningful employment so they can afford a comfortable life.
“The Liberal Government has missed golden opportunities to invest in infrastructure opportunities.
“The Liberals are going to get to the end of four years in power without leaving their economic mark on the state. They’ve just sat back and relied on the private sector to do the work.”
