TasWater’s candidate confirms water bills will be cheaper under Liberal plan

Posted on

TasWater Pembroke candidate Doug Chipman has been embarrassingly forced to admit that water prices will be lower under the Liberal Plan to take control of TasWater.

Quizzed by the ABC*, Mr Chipman said:

“What the Government’s intending to do, is lower the price…”

Liberal candidate for Pembroke, James Walker said that Mr Chipman’s comment was a telling admission.

“Under the Liberals, the average household will save $550 on their water bills.

“And it’s not just me saying it – even Mr Chipman agrees.

“If the people in Pembroke want cheaper water bills, they need to vote for me, the Liberal candidate, so I can vote for cheaper prices in the Legislative Council.

“All my opponents support the status quo on TasWater – which means they support higher water prices and zero action on the cost of living for locals in Pembroke.”

Mr Walker said he would continue to lobby State Government Ministers to take more action on cost of living issues, better transport options and more local jobs in Pembroke – and only he can deliver.

“After only a couple of days on the hustings, it’s pretty clear to me that locals want action to help them with their household bills – and I can help deliver cheaper water bills through the Liberal plan to take over TasWater , if elected as a member of the Liberal Government,” he said.
