Sing Australia returns to perform at Port Arthur Historic Site
Port Arthur Historic Site is delighted to host members of Sing Australia for a special performance in the Convict Church on Monday 9 October 2017.
For the first time since 2005, the 370 members of Sing Australia will be in Hobart for their National Gathering and will kick start their state-wide tour with a special performance at Port Arthur Historic Site.
Colin Slater OAM, the Founder and National Director of Sing Australia will be leading the tour and directing the performance. Sing Australia have just completed a tour in Canada where their voices resounded in many places with impromptu performances in Cathedrals and at memorials. Colin Slater said:
“We always run a tour after our National Gatherings for those interested in seeing more of Australia and for singing with our many Sing Australia groups along the way. Visiting Port Arthur is always a must on all our tours to Tassie and singing in interesting and historic places such as the Convict Church is a very special experience. There are 65 on tour. It should be a very moving experience.”
Hosting Sing Australia is an opportunity for Port Arthur Historic Site to engage with a diverse group of performers and allow them to raise their voices to some beautiful well-known hymns in the stately ruins of the Convict Church.
Sing Australia will perform at Port Arthur on Monday 9 October at 10am. The program will feature Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, The Lord’s my Shephard and Let there be Peace on Earth.
