Rail ripped up and Rene has no idea

 Minister in the dark as rail infrastructure is removed for no reason
 Short-sighted decision defies logic
 How did Rene Hidding allow this to happen?

Shadow Transport Minister Craig Farrell has condemned the Government for its short-sighted decision to rip up rail infrastructure on Hobart’s waterfront.

“Removing the tracks between the Regatta grounds and Macquarie Point makes no sense at all,” Mr Farrell said.

“And it would appear the Minister has been kept in the dark and has no idea about the extent to which infrastructure has been removed.

“Rene Hidding today tried to shift the blame onto the Macquarie Point Development Corporation.

“We’d urge the Minister to visit the site himself before he misleads Tasmanians any further.

“There isn’t a logical reason why you would rip this infrastructure up.

“The Minister’s claim that the main line remains intact is completely untrue. I challenge Rene Hidding to show us where the track is.

“And if the Government wanted to be able to reuse the pieces of track that it has ripped up, it’s gone about it in the wrong way.

“Community groups have expressed an interest in utilising this infrastructure but the Liberals have removed it without consulting anyone.

“After three and a half years in government, it’s clear the Liberals have no plan when it comes to rail opportunities for Hobart.”
