Venture Minerals exploration license expires
Venture Minerals exploration license EL/2005, previously held over the 65 square kilometres surrounding Mt Lindsay and Livingstone mine leases, expired on the 21st August. The Mineral Resources Tasmania website still lists the license as ‘pending renewal’, a month after the license has expired.
Venture Minerals went into a trading halt last week, before announcing a capital raising to fund new exploration activity in south east Asia and Western Australia. The expiry of EL/2005, being a price sensitive matter, has not been disclosed to shareholders or the ASX.
“Why is it that the Minister is entertaining Venture with an expired exploration license. If Venture wanted to renew a license it has had twelve years to prepare for making a renewal application?” asked Save the Tarkine Campaign Coordinator, Scott Jordan.
“If Venture Minerals can’t get its act together on filing a renewal application, why the hell is the Minister still running interference for them?”
Venture Minerals lodged notices of intent relating to seeking environmental approvals for the Mt Lindsay project in Nov 2011, and the Livingstone project in April 2012. The company has failed to provide environmental impact statements for assessment in either projects.
