Significant low snowfalls over Tasmania this week
• A cold front crossing Tasmania during Thursday afternoon will bring very cold southwesterly air behind it.
• The snowline is expected to lower to around 200m on Thursday night, and then gradually rise to around 500m by Friday evening.
• Snow on Thursday night and Friday will add to already significant snow depths from earlier in the week in parts of the west, Central Plateau and far south. Roads in most regions are likely to be affected.
• Gusty conditions are expected during Thursday and Friday, and wind gusts may reach up to 90km/h at times during Thursday afternoon in western, central and southern areas.
The following non-marine warnings are currently in place for Thursday and Friday:
• A Road Weather Alert for snow on roads above 200m for Thursday night and Friday, for most Tasmanian forecast districts.
• A Bushwalkers Alert for western and central forecast districts.
• A Warning for Sheep Graziers for all grazing districts.
• A Flood Watch for the Huon River.
