Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party Tasmania firmly vote NO to Okehampton Bay Salmon Farming

Posted on

The Tasmanian Labor party has unequivocally shown their hand and their support for industrial salmon farming in Okehampton Bay, after a vote in the State Parliament on Wednesday 13th September.

“This will cost them significant votes at the state election, and rightly so” Ken Orr, Acting Chair of Shooters, Fishers & Farmers Party Tasmania, said today..

Both major parties are so out of touch with what Tasmanians truly want, Tasmanian voters don’t forget and SFFP Tasmania will offer a viable choice at the ballot box.

Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party Tasmania absolutely support environmentally sustainable salmon farming; we do not support is the degradation of our pristine east coast waters, risking our aquatic biosecurity, mammal migration routes and tourism operations. We don’t support salmon farming in Okehampton Bay.

Salmon farming has a significant place in the Tasmanian seascape, Okehampton Bay however is definitely not the place for this industry.

Orr went on to say, “with the state election not far away, Labor shadow primary industries Minister Shane Broad will soon find out just out of touch he is”
Adrian Pickin, Press Liaison Officer, Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, Tas.
