Flamenkisimo Sydney presents ‘Luz y Sombra de Flamenco’ (Flamenco: Light and
Shade).This ensemble of Australian Flamenco artists, will present a culmination of three
years’ development with a work that peruses the divergent dynamics and contradistinctive
rhythms of Flamenco.
Featuring two accomplished dancers, international guitarist, cajon player and singer, these
artists are at the peak of their careers after years of study in Spain. Audiences will see
outstanding Australian Flamenco, on-par with that of Spain.
In 2010, ‘Flamenco’ was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible
Cultural Heritage of Humanity and has a strong following outside of Spain. Australia is
catching-on. Tasmanian audiences will see a 200 year old art form – born from Andalusian,
Arabic, Indian and Jewish music.
