Councillor Bertrand Cadart’s resignation

Posted on

It is with sincere regret that the General Manager of Glamorgan Spring Bay Council has today received and accepted Councillor Bertrand Cadart’s resignation from Council, effective from the 28th September 2017.

Councillor Cadart has resigned due to serious illness. It was due to this illness that Councillor Cadart had been initially seeking a six month leave of absence from Council to focus on his health.

Councillor Cadart has served on Glamorgan Spring Bay Council for 12 years, with a large part of this time as Mayor. During that time, his dedication to the community and his commitment to his Council duties has been exemplary. His love of the East Coast of Tasmania shone through and resulted in media attention for our region both nationally and internationally. Councillor Cadart can be commended for his dedication to the communities of Glamorgan Spring Bay.

Councillor Cadart will make a statement in the coming weeks but I ask that given these very personal circumstances the media and public fully respect his privacy at this time.

The Director of Local Government and the Tasmanian Electoral Commissioner have been informed of Councillor Cadart’s resignation.

Council will not be making any further comment at this time.
