Revitalised Shadow Cabinet ready for next Tasmanian election

 Election-ready Parliamentary Labor Party announced
 Portfolio responsibilities reflect Labor’s priorities for Tasmania
 New Labor Members allocated important portfolio areas
Labor Leader Rebecca White has announced a revitalised Parliamentary Labor Party which will go to the next Tasmanian state election, including the allocation of important portfolio areas to new members Sarah Lovell and Shane Broad.
Ms White said Ms Lovell, who won the Upper House seat of Rumney in May, would take over responsibility for Mental Health and Small Business as well as Workplace Relations.
Dr Broad, the new Labor Member for Braddon following the resignation of former Leader Bryan Green earlier this year, will assume the shadow Infrastructure and Mining portfolios to complement his responsibilities for Primary Industries.
“Labor has a depth of talent in the Parliamentary team and the allocation of responsibilities to Sarah and Shane reflects our priorities for Tasmania,” Ms White said.
“Sarah has a strong record in fighting for our most vulnerable Tasmanians and her proven values of fairness, equality and dignity are the perfect fit for the areas of mental health, small business and workplace relations.
“One of Labor’s clear priorities is to build major infrastructure for Tasmanians and I have every confidence in Shane Broad’s ability to be hands on in seeing important projects delivered for a future Tasmania.
“Labor is ready to govern and we will continue to focus on areas where the Hodgman Liberal Government has been a dismal failure – including our health and hospital system and preventative health, public transport, growing our regions, protecting our schools and education system, improving child protection and rebuilding frontline services.”
