Migrant concerns addressed by Max Solutions
A meeting today of representatives from the Department of Education and Training, Navitas English and Max Solutions with students enrolled in the Adult English Migrant Program marked a new beginning for the delivery of the program in Launceston.
Federal Member for Bass, Ross Hart MP was made aware last week of students’ concerns that facilities at Max Solutions were not suitable, with inadequate space and facilities.
“I raised the issues with Max Solutions and was gratified that they, Navitas and the Department responded very promptly to students concerns”, Mr Hart said.
Max Solutions recognised that student numbers for the Adult English Migrant Program were in fact much greater than they had been made aware, and acted to ensure that their site was able to cater for the increased demand.
“There will be several new classrooms, toilet and kitchen facilities, a prayer room and a variety of new resources including computers and data projectors when classes resume”, Mr Hart said.
Mr Hart said that he was very happy to facilitate the meeting today so students could hear firsthand what to expect when they return to classes on 14 August.
“Students were able to ask questions directly of Max Solutions and Navitas and be reassured that their experience in the program would be a positive one.”
“I was extremely pleased with the outcome of the meeting and look forward to seeing positive results being delivered to our migrant communities”, Mr Hart said.
“I thank all concerned for acting promptly to resolve the legitimate concerns of the migrant communities”.
