Posted on

• A Severe Weather Warning has been issued for abnormally high tides today for south eastern Tasmania, including the areas of Hobart, Huonville, Dover and Dodges Ferry.

• This afternoon’s high tide in Hobart is expected to peak around 40cm above the predicted tide height due to low pressure and sea level anomaly in southern Tasmanian waters – high tides can mean a water hazard for roads.

• A westerly flow over the state is bringing low pressure and gusty westerly winds, and the west of the state is expected to receive an additional 10-30mm of rainfall.

• The following warnings are also in place today (locations and warning details may differ):

• A ridge will move over Tasmania on Saturday associated with a high south of Adelaide to move over the south eastern mainland on Sunday as a cold front passes well to the south. Rain easing from Friday night.
