Rogue Liberal Backbencher Adam Brooks has finally jumped the shark, or seal in this case, by petitioning against his own government’s policy.

Shadow Minister for Primary Industries Shane Broad said a petition has gone out on Tasmanian Government letterhead calling for a reversal of Tasmanian Government policy.

“This is beyond ridiculous,” Dr Broad said.

“After a number of stunts, including campaigning for Donald Trump, Adam Brooks has reached a bizarre new low,” Dr Broad said.

“His petition against the relocation of seals directly criticises the practices* of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment.

“Instead of working behind the scenes with the Minister, Adam Brooks is grandstanding to score a cheap political point.

“Mr Brooks appears to be directly attacking the Minister for Primary Industries, and his Liberal rival in Braddon, Jeremy Rockliff.

“Everyone wants to see a solution to the seal relocation problem and Tassal should accelerate its net replacement program. However, grandstanding on this issue will achieve nothing.

“Was DPIPWE given warning of Mr Brooks’ latest stunt?

“Three and a half years into government, the Liberals are still behaving like they’re in opposition.”
