Devonport Regional Gallery: Art Spark shines a light on creativity

Posted on

The after-school art program was launched in Term 1 2017 with two short ‘taster’ series. The workshop series returns in Term 2 across an eight week period on Tuesday afternoons, 4.30 – 5.30 pm from 9 May.
Set in the Gallery, Art Spark offers a unique experience for Primary and Secondary students wishing to further their creative thinking, and develop an appreciation of the visual arts. The workshops are presented by a practising artist who is able to bring out each participant’s unique style and interests.

No prior skill or knowledge is required, just a healthy sense of curiosity and desire to create. With only ten places available, Jessie offers a focused, individual and tailored approach for participants to explore their ideas and artistic practice

“Jessie tailors the sessions to each individual’s interests, focusing on fostering creativity and expression through a variety of arts media. By conducting the sessions in the Gallery environment, Jessie can refer to professional artists work on display when discussing concepts and techniques, offering an enhanced visual art experience for students,” said Education and Public Programs Officer, Dianne Sheehan.
Enrolments are now open. Please contact the Gallery for details and to book: 6424 8296 or artgallery@devonport.tas.gov.au
