Wrest Point: The Witches and Kitten Club

Posted on

You would be forgiven of thinking it is Halloween next week in Tasmania as our state plays host to some ‘witches’ and ‘kittens’ of the musical kind.

Late last year I caught up with musician, songwriter and dancer from ‘Atomic Kitten’, Natasha Hamilton to chat about the upcoming tour. Atomic Kitten is perhaps best known for their hit song ‘Whole again’. Natasha said she was looking forward to the imminent tour and told me it has been a decade since the Kittens last visit to Australia.

This tour Natasha hopes for a few free days amidst all the mayhem of touring to see some of the country and relax.

The name Atomic Kitten is a contradiction, at once the feeling of feline friendship and at the same time, a sense of explosive feminine fearlessness. The kittens being more of the ‘I am woman hear me roar ‘’ilk’ than the purring variety!

Natasha has had a passion for performing starting in her teenage years. Originally from Liverpool Natasha now lives in the picturesque English countryside with her four children with the possibility that perhaps LA might beckon, workwise, in the future.

Always a strong supporter of charity, one that resonates most with Natasha is that of road safety. It may not be widely known but when Natasha was just three years old she miraculously survived being hit by a car.

Natasha has also had theatre success, one of her proudest career moments came when she gained a standing ovation for her role in the West End production of Blood Brothers, perhaps fittingly, for a young woman who has performing in her blood.

You can see Natasha with the Atomic Kittens, Bewitched and others at the Wrest Point Casino on Wednesday 15th February.
