Devonport Regional Gallery: New after school arts program
Devonport Regional Gallery is shining a bright light on creativity in Term 1 with a new suite of workshops for students wishing to pursue their arts practice outside of school.
Art Spark is the Gallery’s new series of after school workshops on offer for Primary and Secondary students with local artist Jessie Pangas to explore ideas, spark the imagination and develop an appreciation of the visual arts. No prior skill or knowledge is required, just a healthy sense of curiosity and desire to create. With only six places available in each group, Jessie offers a focused, individual and tailored approach for participants.
“We’ve often received comments and requests from parents wishing to enroll their children in after-school arts-based workshops, so we’re thrilled to now offer Art Spark to students in Primary and Secondary year levels,” said Education and Public Programs Officer, Dianne Sheehan.
“Jessie will tailor the sessions to each individual’s interests, focusing on fostering creativity and expression through a variety of arts media, and drawing inspiration from the world around us – something that is fundamental to any arts practice, whichever medium.”
A ‘Meet the Artist’ session will be held on Tuesday 14 February, 4–5 pm at the Devonport Regional Gallery for interested parents and students to drop by and discuss the program and their child’s interests with Jessie.
Enrolments are now open. Please contact the Gallery for details and to book: 6424 8296 or artgallery@devonport.tas.gov.au
