Pors to Party
With songs like ‘We like to party’, ‘Boom, boom, boom’ and ‘Were going to Ibiza’ Euro dance group The Vengaboys is about escapism and having fun, and that is just what the group aims to do when they perform in Tasmania this November.
I was speaking to group member, Robin Pors and naturally asked him about the origin of the group’s name. Robin says the ‘venga’ part translates as a cheeky invitation ‘come here’ or ‘let’s go’ or even ‘flirting’. The ‘boys’ part of the name is a little more difficult to understand considering there are two girls in the group. It seems at the production of the first single because the production team were mainly male the ‘boy’ of the name was considered appropriate.
The group that once boasted a virtual team member, have always been innovative and creative and Robin himself is a person always seeking new avenues of creativity and expression, he also coaches and produces new artists, passing on his passion for writing songs to a new generation.
Robin’s looking forward to his trip to Australia and eager to be well informed about places he visits, he is busy reading up on his tour locations’ and looking forward in getting some time off for sightseeing some of them.
You can see the Vengaboys perform at Wrest Point Entertainment Centre on Thursday November 3rd at 7.30pm.
