A Bird among the Wolves
Brodie Rainbird of Tassie’s Wolfe Brothers tells me jokingly when we chat, that the boys are after ‘world domination’ but in reality it seems they have already achieved this.
From their beginnings on Australia’s Got Talent and their regular performances at a Hobart local in Murphy’s Bar, the Tasmanian country rock band have gone on to tour with Lee Kernighan and regularly visit Nashville. True, humble, the Tassie boys say when they are in Nashville they remind themselves of their journey from Murphy’s bar. Succeeding in the US is great but the always down to earth Brodie tells me the guys still crave an Aussie roast and cascade beer when they are on the road in the US.
The boys will be returning to Australia to take part in This Crazy Life tour, the mini festival that showcases new country artists from Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Country music is continually evolving and Brodie says it’s a positive thing because ‘change is a law of nature itself’ and ‘it’s never good to stagnate.’ The performers will showcase this evolution and the different sounds new country is pioneering,
Brodie says that the time in Nashville has also developed the boy’s song writing ability. He tells me the guys have developed their song writing skills such as on the day when he thought ’ we aren’t getting anywhere’ the frustration was eased by his writing partner saying ‘why don’t we use that comment as our starting point?’ The Wolfe brothers have well passed their starting point becoming successes both here in Australia and the US.
