All Saints, South Hobart, 8pm Sat Nov 5: Allegri Ensemble

Allegri Ensemble, conducted by Andrew Bainbridge, is pleased to present a concert of fine choral music celebrating Saints and Angels on Saturday 5th November at 8 pm. Featuring music from the Renaissance to the 21st century, this concert is a fundraiser for the restoration of historic All Saints’ Church, 339 Macquarie Street, South Hobart. The performance will conclude with a champagne supper in the church hall.

The program of heavenly choral music, mostly a capella and some works with organ, includes Gabrieli “Angeli Archangeli”, Bullock “Give us the wings of faith”, Philips “Gaudent in coelis”, Dering “Factum est silentium”, Nares “The souls of the righteous”, Victoria “O quam gloriosum”, Stanford “Justorum animae”, Parry “My soul, there is a country”, Glinka “Cherubic hymn”, Wood “‘Twas in the year that King Uzziah died”, Bairstow “Let all mortal flesh keep silence”, Howells “A hymn for St Cecilia” and Vaughan Williams “Te Deum in G”.
