Moonah Arts Centre: Kashkin

Posted on

Audiences will pack the Moonah Arts Centre on Friday 19 August to experience the original funk and soul of KashKin; an extraordinary seven-piece Hobart based band is receiving international attention.

KashKin was unearthed last year on Triple J with three singles that are seriously funky and are bound to get the crowd moving.

Since it formed in March 2015 the band has been playing to local audiences; performing as a main stage act at the 2015/16 Taste of Tasmania, playing original songs at the 2016 Tasmanian Composers Festival and Concert, and performing for a live broadcast for ABC radio.

In addition to live performances, the band’s music has received national and international airplay in the US and Europe. They were featured on BBC radio on the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show where they were on the playlist alongside artists including James Brown, Funkadelic, Michael Jackson, Maceo Parker and many others.

KashKin are currently recording their first EP due for release in September 2016, and will feature songs from the forthcoming EP at the Friday Night Live@MAC performance.

This fantastic performance is part of the Moonah Arts Centre FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE program which is subsidised by Glenorchy City Council. Tickets are available on the night for $5.00.
