Uncovering new Tasmanian talent in the Derwent Valley

At FOREST SECRETS’ unique Sensory Trail tourist attraction, a new collection of outdoor sculptures is on exhibit over three weekends in June. Admission is free of charge.

Featuring twelve fascinating sculptures by six Australian artists, this exhibition is the first offering from Forest Secrets’ outdoor sculpture trail, which will evolve into a permanent program with annual competitions and prizes.

The FOREST SECRETS site is visually very inspiring and the operators, Tony Coleman and David Yacopetti have always envisaged it as a space that would display inspiring artworks.

Tony and David want to encourage Tasmanian artists to showcase Tasmanian forest themes and at the same time inspire the vising public by exhibiting their work outdoors. They are keen to promote new and emerging talent as well as established artists.

This first, small winter exhibition hits the mark, with some brilliant pieces by previously unknown artists. Metal as media, and insects as subjects are themes strongly represented among the twelve installations.
