Flying Freedom’s Kyte

Posted on

I recently spoke to Matt Kelly formerly of Lindisfarne, Tasmania and now based with his band ‘Mayfair Kytes’ in Melbourne.

Matt has gone from walking Rocky Beach of Lindisfarne to walking the rocky roads of life as depicted in the band’s latest single ‘Sleepyhead’ from the album ‘Animus’.

Sleepyhead explores ‘the struggle between the creative and the logical’.

Sleepyhead plays out in a plain white room as dancer Geoffrey Watson removes his layers of clothing. Matt says the film clip is ‘symbolic of coming out of a dark place’ and removing that which prevents you from moving forward freely.

The DVD says Matt has multiple meanings to the viewer, from being ‘awake’ to potentialities and letting go of what holds us back from our achievements.

Mayfair Kytes debut single Sleepyhead and album Animus is out now.
