WORKSHOPS
Artist Anne Morrison presents two two-hour workshops at Devonport Regional Gallery coinciding with her solo exhibition Preservation and Loss in February and March. Across the two workshops Anne will share some of the painting processes used in her work.
Participants will be guided through a series of painting exercises that focus on ways to re-imagine and interpret our relationship to the environment, exploring the patterns, rhythms, networks and forms found within the natural world.
“We will be working primarily with fluid washes and stains, while also drawing with the paint. As a starting point we will work from sea-sponges, fossilized coral and dried seaweeds, not looking at detail, but capturing a trace or shadow of these forms to include in a composition.” – Anne Morrison

ARTIST TALK

Join Anne Morrison and the curator, Ellie Ray for a floor talk and tour of the exhibition Preservation and Loss. Anne and Ellie will guide visitors through the works in the exhibition, which includes a selection of new paintings and works on paper.

Morrison has developed a reputation as one of Australia’s finest painters. The exhibition highlights influences and shifts in Morrison’s practice and feature a series of works on paper that are studies for her large paintings. The work of Morrison explores the delicately interconnected worlds of surrounding micro and macro environments. The paintings included in the exhibition play with ambiguous and transitory landscapes.
