Model Musician Muses on Lyrical Lingo

Posted on

After a successful sell out tour of Australia in August alternative folk musician Tim Wheatley is set to return for another tour and to release his second single from his album ‘Cast of Yesterday’. The single ‘Heathen’ looks reflectively on Tim’s initial time in LA.

It was in fact in Tim’s profession of model, rather than music that gave him his first inroads of success in the US. He followed that modelling experience with what has been the main ‘hunger’ in his life, music. With the pedigree of having a musician dad and actor Mum it seemed Tim was always destined to join the entertainment industry.

In his musical experiences in the US Tim tells me he felt ‘very proud’ to be an Australian and delighted in delivering to his audiences a taste of Australian lingo in his lyrics, saying he was happy to act as translator and interpreter to his American audience.

When we spoke Tim was telling me about his decision to go solo with his music after 15 years of working in bands.

Tim finds inspiration for his writing everywhere, by things he reads, hears and observes and so his approach is to keep a notebook near his bed to constantly record these inspirational thoughts and musings. Tim’s latest single ‘Valerie’ was inspired by a book called ‘The Delinquent Angel’ about the life of Shelton Lea who was adopted into the Darrell lea family, founders of the celebrated confectionary.

The singles ‘Valerie’ and ‘Heathen’ are out now as is Tim’s album ‘Cast of Yesterday’.

From our last chat in August Tim also told me Tasmania is on his wish list and he is looking forward to getting down here at some stage to visit the home ground of his favourite cricketer Ricky Ponting.
