Get set for a night of serious glitz and glamour, as Tasmania’s biggest burlesque event hits the stage of the Playhouse Theatre.

Burlesk as You Like It promises an evening of classic burlesque inspired by burlesque shows of the 1940s and 1950s. The event features glamorous performances set to the sultry tunes of the Hobart Jazz Quartet (led by Aly Patmore).

“Burlesk As You Like It has been a great experience for Tasmanian audiences. We had packed crowds at the event last year, and the audience loved the format of the show”

“We will have music playing across the evening and performances set to the live band – with some beautifully arranged Duke Ellington pieces and classic burlesque tunes”, said producer Grace Cherry

“The show will definitely appeal to lovers of jazz, burlesque and retro glamour. We really encourage the audience to dress up in vintage inspired outfits. It adds to the atmosphere of the night, and really involves the audience in the show.” she said.

Canberra’s tassel twirling sensation Deb Delicious and samba sensational showgirl, Evie Red (WA) will appear.

“Our audiences always want new and exciting performances,so we have worked hard to bring some really amazing acts to Tassie”, said co-producer Oopsy Daisy.

“We also are really proud to support our local artists, all of whom are doing sensational work nationally and internationally in the burlesque scene.”
