PRESS RELEASE:

THE DAME is a character performed by Mervyn Magee who is a singer/entertainer and emcee.

As the Dame, Mervyn has performed in the Tasman Peninsula and other areas of Tasmania as well as in Melbourne (where the Dame started) and overseas in New York and in Thailand.

The Dame sings songs from the shows, her favourite old movies and also the 1960’s. Named after sixties legend, Petula Clark (the Dame’s full name is Dame Palula Cork) and there is always a medley of her songs in each show. When able to obtain a piano /guitar accompaniement, The Dame loves to sing swing jazz.

Mervyn reviewed old movies on the ABC TV Saturday morning Show, “The Factory” by being inserted into a scene (quite innovative for the 1980’s) of each movie.
