Posted on

Tasmanian Actress Lilly Dennis spent her whole childhood in Hobart, Tasmania and is now making news in LA as an actor and producer.

The 21 year-old moved to LA three years ago to pursue her acting career. Since then she has starred in numerous films such as The Replacement, which has currently been submitted to numerous film festivals including Cannes. And was one of the lead characters on the famed Web Series Body Complications. which has now been picked up for its second season and starts shooting in winter this year.

Lilly’s biggest accomplishment so far is perhaps the entertainment company she started with Ximena Casillas; actress from Mexico City. Since starting their company – Laura Jane Entertainment – they have created and starred in the Mini-Series Foreign Love, set to air in February of 2016. The series revolves around a group of friends from all parts of the world living in LA who are struggling to understand the ‘rules and regulations’ of relationships that apply in America.

Laura Jane Entertainment is currently also producing its first feature film, The Charlie Cure, a story about a young Hispanic woman diagnosed with cancer and her discovery that medicine is not the only cure. The film is filled with uplifting moments of self-discovery and unconditional love. The Charlie Cure has created a lot of buzz internationally due to its unique story line of a universal approach to Cancer. Besides Dennis, the cast includes actors such as Anna Carlise (Undercover), Ximena Casillas (Skye) and Nicholas McDonald (The Surface).

Dennis is making her writing debut with The Charlie Cure. It is based on true events. In a recent interview, Dennis was asked how much she drew from her real life into the script.

“I wrote the script based on an event that occurred in my life; however to respect the privacy of a lot of people I wrote around the personal specifics and used the overall story of love and finding the humor in the worst possible outcome.

“Also, I play the character of Alexis and she absolutely has the best and worst comedic timing when it comes to her Cancer.”

Casillas, who plays the lead role of Sofia said: “She (meaning Dennis) created a script so full of raw emotion and intelligent humor, that it was just an honor to be able to audition. Also, I can’t imagine there has ever been a film about cancer with this many laugh-out-loud moments in it.”

Dennis is definitely taking LA by storm, recently she has made the local papers back in Hobart talking about her success. As the anticipation for the film grows so does the actress’s fan base.
