HOLY HOLY IMPRESS WITH CHART DEBUT + SELL OUT ‘HOWLER’ MELBOURNE,
SECOND SHOW ANNOUNCED

It’s been a big few weeks for everyone’s favourite nostalgic Aussie indie rockers, Holy Holy. After releasing their anticipated debut album, When The Storms Would Come on July 24 and blowing their audience away with a killer set at Splendour In The Grass, the album has now debuted at #11 on the ARIA album chart, #2 on the AIR Independent Labels chart and #9 on the iTunes album chart. And to top it off, the band have just announced a second Melbourne show set to take place at Howler on September 6, after their September 5 Howler show sold out within weeks of going on sale, with all tour shows selling fast also.

The response to the record can not only be seen with these impressive chart results, but through the incredibly flattering reviews that have been pouring in for the band’s debut effort, with a swathe of Album Of The Weeks & 4 star reviews.

“One of the standout albums to be released this year…Almost perfect” The Daily Telegraph
“When they’re fully engaged, they go at songs like Arcade Fire, 120 per cent committed.” news.com.au
“This is a brave debut album – a dense, sophisticated effort that attempts to blend Bowie with Band Of Horses, or Springsteen with Midlake. And ends up succeeding.” Best Before
“A killer of a record” Indieshuffle

The national When The Storms Would Come album tour will kick start at the Darwin Festival on August 13 and will then venture on to Bunbury, Perth, Fremantle, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Launceston, Hobart, Adelaide, Geelong, Ballarat, Melbourne, Thirroul, Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney and finishing up as headline act at Sounds Of The Suburbs festival in Cronulla on September 27.

It will then be followed by a newly announced second tour of UK/Europe for the year, celebrating the release of the record on the other side of the world on October 30, which will see the band play a string of shows and festivals in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Berlin, Hamburg, Brussels, Amsterdam and more.

With classic songs, huge supports, extensive radio play, an overwhelmingly positive response from press and blogs both here and overseas, sold-out headline shows and international gigs under their belts, Holy Holy have already achieved so much. And now their debut full-length album is finally here and it is vaster and wilder than anything they’ve released to date. Recorded in Brisbane with Matt Redlich (Emma Louise, Ball Park Music, The Trouble With Templeton), the album unveils the band pushing in to new sonic territory with daring & classic guitars, driving rhythms and even bigger vocals.

Holy Holy is fronted by the songwriting team, vocalist/composer Timothy Carroll and guitarist/composer Oscar Dawson. They are joined on the road by permanent drummer Ryan Strathie (Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Andy Bull), touring bassist Graham Ritchie (Airling, Emma Louise), and Brisbane-based producer Matt Redlich as their touring keys player. Joining them for a large part of the tour will be Melbourne band, Fractures. Other supports include Methyl Ethel and Violet Swells, with more to be announced.
