The Bay of Fires Art Prize 2015

Posted on

I was very pleased to attend the opening of the Bay of Fires Art Prize in St Helens this evening.

The 2015 Bay of Fires Art Prize features the works of 35 shortlisted artists from Tasmania and across Australia.

Since its inception in 2012, the Bay of Fires Art prize has steadily grown in both size and reputation.

Entrants into the Prize must create contemporary visual artworks that focus on the theme of ‘Our Island Inheritance’.

It was particularly pleasing to see Tasmanian artists strongly represented in the shortlist for the 2015 Bay of Fires Art Prize.

The exhibition is a valuable opportunity for Tasmanian artists to raise their profile within the state.

I encourage people on the East Coast to view the exhibition while it is open during the month of June.

The Bay of Fires Art Prize is part of the Bay of Fires Winter Festival being held this long weekend. The exhibition is on show at the Tidal Waters Resort in St Helens and will run from Saturday 6 June to Saturday 27 June 2015.
