Kettering Incident world premiere a huge success

Posted on

Last night’s world premiere of The Kettering Incident was a fantastic occasion for Tasmania and our growing film industry.

The simultaneous sell-out screenings were a resounding success and a demonstration of Tasmania’s world-class screen capability.

There was huge interest in the premiere, with the original screening selling out in two hours and subsequent additional screenings at the State Cinema selling out in 45 minutes.

By featuring a large number of Tasmanians in the cast and crew, the show will send a further message that the state has the talent and ability to host large scale cinema and television productions.

The Tasmanian Government through Screen Tasmania invested $1 million in the largest television series ever to film in the state.

This resulted in a $6m spend in the state employing 110 Tasmanian cast and crew and numerous suppliers to the production.

The show’s producer and co-creator, Vincent Sheehan, said he was thrilled with the successful screenings.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better event with Dark Mofo and our FOXTEL partners to launch The Kettering Incident and we couldn’t have asked for a better response from an audience,” Mr Sheehan said.

“Since the show’s inception, Tasmanians and Screen Tasmania took an extraordinary leap of faith in myself and the writer and co-creator Vicki Madden.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to be able to deliver back last night a show that is uniquely Tasmanian and essentially theirs.” The show is due to screen on Foxtel later in the year and the BBC will distribute the show internationally.
