Bavarian Baroness

If Eve Von Bibra was in Germany she would be considered a Baroness. The Von Bibra name is a name that first was held by Bavarian knights and later they were upsized to Barons and Baronesses and even today in Bavaria they are still considered so.
Having spoken to Eve recently I can attest this Chantoozie is every bit a ‘princess’ even if in modern times this may translate into a pop princess! But Eve is also a down to earth girl with her priorities definitely in the right place.
Eve traces her lineage not only to Royals in Bavaria, but also to Tasmania! And indeed Tasmania is a place very familiar to and loved by Eve. Eve’s grandfather had a home on the East Coast of Tasmania. She recalls her visits here and the beauty of the history of Tassie and the beauty of the Midlands and Ross. In fact Tasmania is one of Eve’s most favourite places and particularly she mentions the Bay of Fires and Bruny Island as places she loves to visit. Eve is also impressed by how people that live here can settle down unperturbed and do their own creative things not bothered by the pace of life often experienced on the mainland.
Eve is very excited to be bringing the Chantoozies back to Tasmania and her thoughts don’t stray far from her appreciation of our state. She tells me that she and the girls recently experienced a performance on ‘A Day on the Green’ in South Australia’s Barossa Valley and that the beautiful landscapes and buildings there reminded her of Tassie.
Eve tells me about a recent video the band did that starred ‘their friends’, now very much Hollywood heavyweights, in Anthony LaPaglia and Hugh Jackman. The guys were having some fun in the video pretending they were members of the band.
Like the guys, the girls have moved on in recent years each doing their own thing with Tottie performing plays, working in film as well as emceeing shows and even becoming a marriage celebrant. It doesn’t surprise Eve that Tottie is involved in so many people friendly actives, describing her friend ‘as a breath of fresh oxygen, happiness and joy’.
Ally Fowler has also taken to the stage recently, performing in David Williamson’s plays and also working in the new series Wentworth.
While Eve herself, has been working in film and television with Chris Lilley, on the program ‘Rock Whiz’ as well as writing songs but she is overjoyed to be back with her ‘sisters’ as she calls the girls. Eve says she has 6 sisters, 3 biological and her additional ‘sisters’ in band members, Ally, Tottie and Angelica.
Perhaps Billy Joel, whom the Chantoozies supported on tour said it best when he exclaimed ‘together you girls make one hell of a woman’ and indeed they do.
You can see the Chantoozies at The Butter Factory Burnie on November 21 at 8pm.
