PRE-FESTIVAL ‘GALLERY CRAWL’ EVENT … ALL WELCOME

The multi award winning Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival returns October 10-12 with a fascinating program of arts, cultural and heritage events.

The festival celebrates the centenary of the Lake Margaret Power Station – the oldest, continually operating Hydro Electric Power Station in Australia.

While the festival kicks off on Friday 10th October, West Coast residents and visitors already in the area are invited to a ‘Gallery Crawl’ event – to be held on Thursday 9th October commencing at 5pm. Participants will meet at the Corner of Orr and Sticht Streets in Queenstown and be led by two Queenstown locals – Miss Sophie Wray-McCann and Mr. Tom Pavic.

The Gallery Crawl presents an opportunity for locals, and those in the area, to explore and celebrate the Queenstown art galleries; to meet with the artists and see their works prior to the festival launch the next day.

Participants are welcome to view the art at each gallery at their leisure before the guide announces the next venue. The group will visit six art galleries and see the works of eleven different artists.

The gallery crawl is a free event and there is no need to RSVP.

VOLUNTEERS STILL REQUIRED

The multi award winning Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival returns October 10-12 with a fascinating program of arts, cultural and heritage events.

The festival celebrates the centenary of the Lake Margaret Power Station – the oldest, continually operating Hydro Electric Power Station in Australia.

The festival committee are seeking volunteers to assist over the festival weekend. Volunteers are required to man the information booth, help sell merchandise, survey visitors, welcome visitors to an exhibition or gallery, help guide visitors to Queenstown and monitor traffic flow at Lake Margaret.

Volunteers usually work in two hour shifts. It is important that the volunteers enjoy the festival too so this flexible approach allows volunteers to donate some of their time, but also actively enjoy and participate in the festival.

A meeting will be held on Thursday night, 9th October, 5pm at the Queenstown RSL. There is no need to register, simply turn up.

All welcome.
