Elodie’s Exotic Eden
When I ask musician Elodie Adams about if she has visited Tasmania before she tells me a novel story of her visit as a young baby, when her parents were in Tassie on honeymoon.
Elodie’s mum thought taking the ferry would be romantic but found herself seasick instead!
The name Elodie means ‘foreign riches’ and her surname ‘Adams’ means ‘earth’, and indeed Elodie’s music (she also plays violin) and visuals with their gothic feel, might be considered ‘foreign’ or ‘exotic’ riches, not unlike that first Adam’s Eden and give us a new way at looking at our world, that ‘there are more things in heaven and earth’ as ‘Hamlet’ tells us ‘than ‘our’ philosophy has dreamt of’.
I spoke to Elodie recently about her single ‘Born to Love You’, a song that was inspired by a time in her late teens, when she was 19 or 20 and navigating the music industry. At the time Elodie was meeting people not knowing if the relationships were superficial or not and wishing that she knew who she could trust.
The song was written when Elodie was travelling on a plane from Sydney to visit friends at the Adelaide SymphonyOrchestra.Elodie hadn’t slept for two days and was in a ‘semi-conscious fuzzy state’ but recorded her clear vision of ‘a person running through a white mist’ with the ‘melody’, which she recorded.
Elodie is very involved in her productions and is interested in projects of fantasy and like the ‘Born to Love You’ video with multiple characterizations of herself in the video, she found fantasy ‘an ideal protagonist’.
As a big fan of PlayStation as a child, Elodie approached the company, which she saw as having a similar vision to her own, and she was picked up for PlayStation’s ‘Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty’ game. You can hear ‘Born to Love You’ in the official trailer, at the end of the game and in the credits.
Elodie’s music showcased at the’ E3′(Electronic Entertainment Expo) at the Sony booth. After which,Elodie was ‘flooded by thousands of notifications’
Elodie’s aim is to create ‘a journey’ and with her ‘heavy rock hybrid’ she is finding her way on that journey as musician, co-producer and possible gothic fashion designer….watch this space!
You can hear ‘Born to Love You’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xT82-VnOO4.
Elodie’s new EP ‘inSUBORDINATE’ was released August 22
