• Will Hodgman: Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events; Minister for Aboriginal Affairs; Minister for Sport and Recreation;

• Jeremy Rockliff: Minister for Education, Minister for Primary Industries and Water and Minister for Racing;

• Michael Ferguson: Minister for Health, Minister for Information Technology and Innovation. Ferguson will also be the Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly;

• Peter Gutwein: Treasurer and Minister for Planning and Local government;

• Rene Hidding : Minister for Police and Emergency Management; Minister for Infrastructure;

• Vanessa Goodwin: Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Corrections and the Arts. Goodwin will also be the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council;

It will consist of nine ministers and two parliamentary secretaries who will oversee 24 portfolios. Mr Hodgman says education will be a focus for the new Liberal government. “We must do more to invest in our greatest asset, our young people, our students, to give them the best chance, the best shot in life but to make Tasmania a more productive place,” he told a news conference. ABC: Bryan Green takes on Tasmanian Labor leadership after Lara Giddings resigns Bryan Green is the new Labor leader in Tasmania after gaining unanimous support from colleagues. Mr Green will lead the party in Opposition after former Premier Lara Giddings resigned her leadership and nominated the long-serving Braddon MP to replace her. The transition means there is no need for a secret ballot of MPs, rank and file and affiliated unions, as agreed to last week by Labor’s administrative committee. Mr Green emerged leader after a four-hour meeting of the Parliamentary Labor Party in Hobart. “It is my honour to be elected unanimously by the PLP today, to be leader of the opposition,” he told reporters. Former Health Minister Michelle O’Byrne will serve as Mr Green’s deputy. ABC here
