Music Tasmania in association with The Republic Bar, The Brisbane Hotel, The Grand Poobah, Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery and TMAGgots proudly presents AMPLIFIED 2013.
Amplified 2013 will showcase twenty-two Tasmanian artists across four shows in Hobart on November 29 and 30. On Friday 29th, for night one of Amplified, a diverse range of music will be on display with indie pop, blues, roots and folk at The Republic Bar; and metal, alt-folk, rock, electronic and funk at The Brisbane Hotel.
The Republic Bar, from 9pm: Pete Cornelius, Jed Appleton, Seth David and The Beautiful Chains, Chase City, and New Saxons. The Brisbane Hotel, from 9pm and with two stages in operation: Randomorder, Captives, The Lawless Quartet, Guthrie, The Dead Maggies, M.0.1.0 – Machines of Indeterminate Origin, The Embers, and Akouo.
Saturday 30th sees Music Tasmania present an outdoor component to the festival-like program, situated in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery courtyard, an early evening show starting at 6pm will feature Mangus, Lulu and the Paige-Turners, Christopher Coleman Collective, and The Sin & Tonics. TMAGgots will be running a bar, while food on site includes Mountain Pepper Pizza.
Following on at 9pm, The Grand Poobah hosts rock, indie, and punk with Ride The Tiger, The Middle Names, Younger Dryas, Dark Matter of Story Telling, and The Phosphenes.
Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts Tasmania, the goal of Amplified is to promote Tasmania’s diverse music community on a local and national stage. Amplified provides opportunities for showcasing artists to connect with industry delegates, fellow showcasing artists, and greater audiences.
Music Tasmania will be introducing performing artists to thirteen official delegates comprising booking agents, artist managers, label representatives, radio and online media journalists, and festival agents.
Now in its 8th year, and 3rd under the coordination of Music Tasmania, the performer program for Amplified 2013 was selected from a field of fifty-five applicants by representatives from participating venues and media outlets The Mercury and Edge Radio.

AKOUO

LULU AND THE PAIGE-TURNERS
Since making their live debut in April, Lulu and the Paige-Turners have been mesmerising audiences from Hobart to the UK with their stunning theatrical shows and captivating imagery. Contemporary sounds and sweet melodies meeting cabaret-esque rhythm and vocal attitude that enthral listeners into Lulu’s world.

MANGUS
Mangus is a blues, jazz and gospel musician from Hobart, Tasmania. Since 2006 Mangus has become a regular performer on the Tasmanian music scene, including festivals such as MONA FOMA, The Junction Arts Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival and The Falls Music and Arts Festival.

M.O.1.O – MACHINES OF INDETERMINATE ORIGIN
Formed in late 2007, the duo sits somewhere in the no-mans land between Metal and indie/alternative scenes. M010 describe themselves as “slowed down abstract punk rock”.
