The South Australian Parliament’s rejection of same-sex marriage is further evidence marriage is a federal issue, said Mr Guy Barnett Spokesperson for the Save Marriage Coalition.
“The Labor/Green Tasmanian government should cease any further attempts to impose same-sex marriage on the Tasmanian people.
Marriage is a federal not a state issue and Section 51(21) of the Constitution says so. Re-introducing same-sex marriage legislation in Tasmania confirms the government is using our state as a social experiment at the expense of our economy.
Parliament must get its priorities right if we have any chance of getting our economy back on track.
The South Australian vote also confirms that marriage is between a man and woman. It is a bedrock institution designed to protect children.”
Same-sex marriage would deny a child either a mum or a dad. Both are important, Mr Barnett said.
